Is lifting heavier better ?

Yes if you are injury free and use good form and know why you are lifting heavier and dont try and get stronger every session.

Over time we should look to progress but there are many ways to skin a cat and get bigger and stronger.

Begginners make the mistake of sometimes progressing load too fast at the expense of form and recovery. This as i have personally found in my youthful exubarance can be a surefire way to surgery !

Over time with the right plan and strategy getting stronger is for men a worthy goal and should be chased in a steady manner.

So why is lifting heavier better ?

* stronger connective tissues

* bigger stronger musclesn

* enhanced nervous system activation and coordination

* increased bone density

* look better naked

* better sporting performance

That should be reason enough for most guys to start moving some decent iron !

Factors to consider when lifting like a Boss !

1. you cant get stronger all the time –  factor in recovery or deload weeks into training

2. aim to get stronger in big compound lifts – squats, deadlifts, rows, dips, presses will over time give the biggest return on time invested.

3. warm up properly – mobility, foam rolling, activation drills should be present in any heavy lifting session.

4. as you get stronger you need more sleep and recovery

5. vary sets, rep ranges, rest periods in a structured way over time

6. get strong in all planes of motion. Pushes, pulls, single leg and double leg strength, rotational strength to create balanced athleticism.

So in summary get stronger following a plan over time using a structured plan. If you need any help with structure and getting stronger get in touch enquiries@reacheliteperformancecoaching.com
