25 Mar Why willpower doesnt work !

This is Why willpower doesnt work !

It is much like a fast twitch muscle fibre in a sprinter, it works for a short while and fatigues and needs a decent amount of rest to perform at its best

What research tells us is that once willpower has dwindled we are more likely to succumb to bad habits,

What can i do then ?

Tackle issues that will cause you problems once willpower has gone !

perfect example is at the end of a hard long day once all will has gone we will reach for bad simple sugary and salty foods if we havnt got foods ready prepared. Lets say our meals are ready cooked and just need quickly reheating. This is how you can get around wimpy willpower.

Another one is the gym, if your like 90% of the population you will find an excuse after work not to exercise / go to the gym and its easier to have to bottle of red when you get in.

Whats the solution ?

Go to the gym early, before work whilst there is no bad day, no excuse and willpower is at its highest.

if you find same thing are your achilles heel when you are tired and make bad decisions then the best strategy initially is avoidance. If wine is your vice every night simply dont buy it so its not in the kitchen when you are having a wobble. if you have the habit of calling at the same shop on the way home from work maybe take a different route or detour so you break the cycle.

Research has also told us that willpower can be helped by good diet and managing blood sugar levels massively helps. Food like avocado, meat, fish , nuts, sweet potato, vegetables  will help stabilise blood sugar and give the brain the fuel it needs.

so what are the take home points here

1. set yourself up to win with planning

2.live a good life with good foods to nourish the brain

3. dont put yourself in a position constantly where you rely on willpower

3 simple points to help your willpower

Hope it helps guys
